Passion for Community

At Banner we are passionate about not only supporting, but improving, the communities in which we live and work, creating an impact in big and small ways. These efforts help our neighbors and strengthen our community. From building playgrounds to helping prepare and serve a meal to those less fortunate or building a Habit for Humanity home, we find numerous ways to get involved and engineer a better community.

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) Program - Middle and High School Girls
Banner has supported this group through the years with volunteer efforts at seminars, programs and gift bag giveaways.

Free First Fridays | Kirby Science and Discovery Center at the Washington Pavilion
As part of E-Week (Engineer’s Week / Discover Engineering) in February, Banner staff participated with demonstrations and various hands-on activities related to engineering.

Harvest Table
The Harvest Table provides a hot, no-cost meal served to those in need every Monday night at the Brookings First United Methodist Church. Each Monday meal is sponsored and served by a volunteer group from the Brookings community. Banner has volunteered for a Monday meal each November since 2009. Banner employees volunteer by bringing grocery items for the meal and/or preparing, serving and cleaning up. Additionally, staff donate non-perishable food items and toiletries that are distributed by Harvest Table at the end of the month to those in need.

Building Playgrounds | Dakota Prairie (K-3) and Camelot Intermediate School (4-6)
In a cost-saving effort, the Brookings School District reached out to the community for volunteers to build the new playgrounds. Banner staff stepped up to the plate and helped dig holes, lay foundation for cement pads and assemble playground equipment.

Habit for Humanity
Banner has volunteered all the surveying services for each new building project in Brookings. Many of our staff have volunteered their time and knowledge in helping build these homes both in Brookings and Sioux Falls.

United Way
Banner supports the United Way in the Brookings, Sioux Falls and Vermillion communities. Banner contributes by matching employee’s contributions.

Lunch Is Served, Inc.

Our Sioux Falls team has partnered with Lunch is Served, preparing 300 lunches for hardworking men and women in the community. Lunch is Served, Inc has the unique mission of delivering sack lunches to people who are attempting to break the chains of poverty and hunger. Many people around the area put in a full day of manual labor without the benefit of a noon meal; and Lunch is Served is there to help with that problem.

Project S.O.S. (Supply Our Students)

Project S.O.S. provides free school supplies and new backpacks in Sioux Falls to students from families with limited resources. Banner's team assisted in the supply set up and organization for filling over 6,000 backpacks with new supplies.

Our Communities
Committed to the towns and cities that we work in, we strongly believe in supporting these communities not only through our professional services but on a more personal level by contributing financial and/or in-person support to many community organizations.
