Scope of Work 1

Lewis & Clark Regional Water System of Tea, South Dakota will receive bids for construction of a vertical test well and observation wells at Site J, logging and pump testing.  The project is located south of Vermillion, South Dakota along Independence Avenue and adjacent to the Missouri River.  Construction of the project will be on lands owned by Owner.  Project scope will include the following phased approach:

Phase 1 – Exploratory Test Hole Drilling:

Drill three test holes to bedrock via mud rotary method (a depth of approximately 105 feet).
Perform and generate geologic logs and electric logs of test holes to describe aquifer quality and determine the presence/absence of clay/clayey layers that could block infiltration.
If conditions are found that are favorable for a collector well, the project would proceed to Phase 2:

Two of the test holes will be completed as observations wells.  The preferred test well may be used as the pilot hole for the test wells in Phase 2.
Engineer will determine the location to start the Phase 2 testing program immediately once the three test holes are complete.  No remobilization for Phase 2 is anticipated for the additional test well drilling.

If conditions are not favorable for a collector well, the test holes will be abandoned and no further work would be performed.

Phase 2 – Site J Testing Program:

Drill a pilot hole for the test well and complete five locations as observation wells.
For the test well, collect formation samples and perform sieve analysis for well screen design.
Complete and develop the test well as a 12-inch well capable of 1,000+ gpm using a reverse mud rotary drill rig.
Install one sand point on the river bank near the edge of the Missouri River.
Conduct pumping tests and all associated data collection and preparation of a pump test report:

5-hour stepped rate test.
72-hour constant rate test with recovery.

Clean up, site restoration and all other miscellaneous work required, not herein mentioned, but inferred from the construction contract documents.
