Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now? I did a project in 4th grade about the movement of old 16 bridge that crosses the Missouri River at Chamberlain, SD from Wheeler, SD. My grandpa was a young kid who remembered the bridge in Wheeler and watched it get loaded onto barges and floated upriver. After that, I wanted to be apart of building something that surpasses many generations and is valued and appreciated by so many. Civil Engineering allows me to be a part of the design and building of such structures and utilities that will hopefully be in service for over a century.
What hobby would you get into if time and money wasn’t an issue? Farming/ranching - I would build a large farm in South Dakota or ranch in Wyoming and raise cattle and horses.
Where do you usually go when you when you have time off? When I have time off, I am usually spending it on my parent’s farm in Chamberlain, SD or at my girlfriend’s parents farm in Leola, SD. I am usually out building fence, working cattle, farming, or hunting.
What skill would you like to master? I would really like to master the skill of roping off horseback. I have the basics down but to have the skill mastered would be awesome.
Who inspires you to be better? My parents are my inspiration to always give 110% on any task I am given. They have built a farm up from nothing while working full time jobs and raising my 4 siblings and me. They never stop working towards their goals no matter the hardships and have instilled hardy work ethics in all of us kids.
